CHEAP TRICK WAS MORE A TRICK THAN A TREAT

Image
I like millions other have been listening to CHEAP TRICK from the early 70's enjoying many of their great hits and 40 years later 3 of the original member's are still performing on a regular basis. In all my years I have not met RICK NIELSON the lead guitarist though I did meet ROBIN ZANDERS about 7 years ago and he was terrific. Rocket Man and I took a chance at a possible hotel and with in minutes we met TOM PETTERSEN the bass player who was friendly and chatted with us for a few minutes. He never hesitated signing the albums but when I gave him a single photo , he mentioned what I can not stand more than nails on a blackboard. "You going to sell that on EBAY" and I looked at him and finally said what I was always thinking. NOT AT THIS TIME. I will one day maybe sooner than latter as what is going to happen to them when I gone one Day" which I said with a smile to hi. He looked at me and said" You are right. Thanks for being honest" and off he ...

LONG LIVE MONTY PYTHON!!!

Image
I have always had a few favorites and one undeniably is MONTY PYTHON.        As I was growing up we were able to catch it on TV the comedy of MONTY PYTHONS FLYING CIRCUS ( This is before Cable )  with the British Humor  that was far more risky and not as screened as the American censors. Every week for a half hour some of the corniest but funniest skits that have become folklore with this band of crazy guys. From the Dead Parrot to the Funny Walks to songs ( my favorite was , I'M a Lumbar jack and that is OK etc etc . If You have never heard that please Google.  They were one of the first to graduate into films ( Life of Brian and the classic Holy Grail). When I spoke to some friends in their 20's they really did not know to much of them but again I asked them to Google when the Black Knight is approached in the Holy Grail Film. It truly is one of the classics of all time and I strongly suggest to watch that scene if You have...

WAKE UP RICK SPRINGFIELD, YOU ARE OLD NEWS

Like so many in life , there are those who feel they are a little better than the rest of everyone around them. EGO is a main factor and after observing what we saw a few nights ago, RICK SPRINGFIELD is a prime example. Springfield was a pretty face on an early soap and then went on to music in the early 80's using that fame as a catalyst. His big hit JESSES GIRL really was a catching tune and one I have always enjoyed even after 35 YEARS. As he no longer plays in front of big stadiums and was playing at EPCOT where people see the show with the Price of admission. RICK they do not pay the admission to see You only. Now this blog is my opinion and was also related by so many after we all left. But I have to say he does put on an entertaining show though Disney People did not appreciate him making fun of a paying patron when he left during the show to go to the bathroom. But that was not the reason for my main disappointment though I did feel sorry for that guy . Th...

FINALLY MEETING PAUL KANTNER OF LEGENDARY JEFFERSON AIRPLANE/STARSHIP

Image
For those who grew up in the dawn of Rock N Roll when JEFFERSON AIRPLANE hit the scene starting in the San Francisco Bay area and spreading across the USA and then the world. Many like myself began instant fans and followers of their unique sound. I have seen them in concert dating back to 1969 and the world fell in love with them with their memorable performance at WOODSTOCK and like so many others I have seen them countless times and never have been disappointed. As a collector of memorabilia especially music , I have collected about 25 pieces from albums to posters of Airplane who then became Starship and over the years have tried to get the whole band to sign them to fully complete the piece. Meeting GRACE SLICK was one of my favorite highlights andI gave some added incentive to her to sign by buying a couple of her paintings but still the interaction with her talking about so many things will never be forgotten. I met DAVID FRIEBERG many times and was will be a fellow who ...

Remembering the Celebrities we have lost over the past 2 months

Image
It also saddens me to see those I grew up with pass on and not all get recognition and remembrance like some of the major celebs. Here are some that I and maybe many will have remembered FRANKIE FORD was a singer of the early Rock N Roll Crowd in the late 50s and early 60;s and though I was too young at the time to appreciate him, I did have the opportunity to meet him at a small supper club in 2000 and sang his big hit SEA CRUISE! BRAD ANDERSON was most famous for writing the comic book creator MARMADUKE JACKIE COLLINS who gained fame not only as Joan Collins sister but for writing some risky novels for that time centering around Hollywood and novels such as Hollywood Wives and others We lost. DARRYL DAWKINS also know as Chocolate Thunder at only 58 and was the first to transfer from High School into the professional ranks of the National Basketball Association. As big as he was he had one of the kindest hearts anyone could imagine, AL ARBOUR who was the coach ...

MY MINUTE WITH CHARLIE DANIELS

Image
Charlie Daniels has been playing the music circuit almost as long as I have lived and visits our area usually once a year. He was playing at a near by venue so three of us Hotdog, Schoolboy and Myself drove hoping to have a few of our albums which also included a fiddle. After the show that lasted about 90 minutes we went over to an area where he would come out and patiently waited for a few minutes for our moment to meet him. As he approached wearing his 10 gallon white hat and was much taller that I thought. We politely asked if he would mind signing our items and as he is known to be very accommodating to his fans. As he signed my first album one could not even read it and I offered another pen and took him the second album to realize that he should change. He signed most but not all and when Schoolboy asked him to write The Devil came down to Georgia as he signed it he some what angrily refused and started to leave. He did stop to take a photo and we were told he needed t...
