It also saddens me to see those I grew up with pass on and not all get recognition and remembrance like some of the major celebs. Here are some that I and maybe many will have remembered
FRANKIE FORD was a singer of the early Rock N Roll Crowd in the late 50s and early 60;s and though I was too young at the time to appreciate him, I did have the opportunity to meet him at a small supper club in 2000 and sang his big hit SEA CRUISE!
BRAD ANDERSON was most famous for writing the comic book creator MARMADUKE
JACKIE COLLINS who gained fame not only as Joan Collins sister but for writing some risky novels for that time centering around Hollywood and novels such as Hollywood Wives and others
We lost.
DARRYL DAWKINS also know as Chocolate Thunder at only 58 and was the first to transfer from High School into the professional ranks of the National Basketball Association. As big as he was he had one of the kindest hearts anyone could imagine, AL ARBOUR who was the coach of the National Hockey Team the ISLANDERS who dominated the hockey world from 1980 to 1983 winning 4 consecutive Titles and will always be remembered as one of the greatest Dynasty's
YOGI BERRA 3 time MVP and 10 time World Champion with the NEW YORK YANKEES and considered by many as one of the greatest catchers of all time. I met Yogi once at a party and when I asked if he would sign a white panel football that everyone from all sports were signing at this party, he looked at me after having a few drinks" I did not play that sport and I do not like it" and walked away. Still with all his one liners he will always be remembered
TV and Movies.
MELODY PATTERSON who played Wrangler Jane on the F TROOP SERIES was every ones favorite and most boys were in love with her especially with her outfits and beautiful smile. We all did not find out later that she was closer to our age that the stars she was acting of the screen with at that time and caused such an uproar when Ken Berry found out her true age and not the 21 that her Mother put in her biography..
JACK LARSON who played JIMMY OLSEN on the TV SUPERMAN series in the 50's and early 60's. Playing 2nd fiddle to GEORGE REEVES and Noel Neil as Lois Lane he did a great job and never complained. Was told did not sign many autographs in person due to an issue many years when the pen he was given to sign an autograph marked up a new suit he was wearing and vowed never for that to happen again.
DICKIE MOORE who played Scottie on the early LITTLE RASCALS series that many of us watched in the early morning before going to school.
JUDY CARNE who started the SOCK IT TO BABY in the 60's TV classic LAUGH IN which later had everyone saying it including PRESIDENT NIXON. Judy also was an ex wife of Burt Reynolds.
MARTIN MILNER who started in ROUTE 66 and later gained more fans when he played the police officer in ADAM 12.
DEAN JONES who was in more DISNEY Movies than people remember including LOVE BUG and THAT DARN CAT. I once wrote him sending a couple of photos asking for them to be signed and they finally came back signed 4 years Later! That is the gospel truth.
WES CRAVEN who directed many horror classics but will always be remembered for the NIGHTMARE ON ELM SERIES . Had the pleasure of meeting him a few years back and was a kind and very likeable individual.
Of course there are more but we mention them as they all had our attention one time or the other and have left an everlasting mark in our Great American Culture!
