MY MINUTE WITH CHARLIE DANIELS

Charlie Daniels has been playing the music circuit almost as long as I have lived and visits our area usually once a year. He was playing at a near by venue so three of us Hotdog, Schoolboy and Myself drove hoping to have a few of our albums which also included a fiddle.
After the show that lasted about 90 minutes we went over to an area where he would come out and patiently waited for a few minutes for our moment to meet him. As he approached wearing his 10 gallon white hat and was much taller that I thought. We politely asked if he would mind signing our items and as he is known to be very accommodating to his fans. As he signed my first album one could not even read it and I offered another pen and took him the second album to realize that he should change. He signed most but not all and when Schoolboy asked him to write The Devil came down to Georgia as he signed it he some what angrily refused and started to leave. He did stop to take a photo and we were told he needed to get to his wife. Though we had the enjoyment to meet this legend it was very uninspiring as there was no real interaction between any of us and Charlie. It laymen terms it was a quickie with no enjoyment. Then what either was his manager or his security said to us" What are You going to do with these" One said I am going to keep it and I responded also I was planning to give one to my patient. He rudely turned his back to us and : SURE". His attitude towards us though it was not Charlie Daniels really ruined the moment and if Charlie ever reads this he should be aware of it. Usually when You meet a star of his magnitude You walk away bragging about the experience but all we felt was a moment of numbness and will not go down as a great moment like we were hoping for to happen. Well as Scarlet O'Hara said " Tomorrow is another Day
