MONIQUE IS A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

Image
THE WORLD REALLY GOT TO KNOW THE WONDERFUL ACTRESS AND COMEDIAN WHEN SHE WON THE ACADEMY AWARD FOR HER ROLE IN PRECIOUS as Mary Lee Johnson . I have been blessed twice now after meeting her once again after her show at a local comedy club where she did a standby comedy act that will keep you smiling through out. I waited patiently for her to come out and my patience was rewarded when she exited the stage door. I asked politely if she would mind signing an item and with a beautiful smile she said " Sure Darling" When I told her that I was the lucky one to have waited as the others left, she looked at me and said " The Best is still here". For the next 5 minutes she admired the photos and only pleasant words that made me feel like I was the star. WHEN DOES THAT HAPPEN. I can tell you NEVER. She has a heart that is as wide as the universe and a few moments with her all You can say That she is the greatest. Thanking her again she said " LOVE YA B...

WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT TODD RUNDGREN

Image
I have been listening to TODD RUNDGREN since 1970 and have followed his career as a solo act to the days with UTOPIA and even Ringo Starrs Allstar Band and has been a major player on the music scene. Though 67 he still is a musician , strong song writer and producer which included BAT OUT OF HELL by Meatloaf. I had the opportunity to meet him several years ago and that meeting has always stood out in my mind. He had a show at the Hard Rock in Orlando and I decided to take a chance and guess on what hotel he was going back to after his show. I was sitting in the lobby and I got a quick glimpse of someone hustling towards the elevator and realized that it was Todd himself. I got to him at the elevator and asked if he would mind signing an album. He looked at me with food in his hand and said " I got to go and am in a rush" . I told him that I do not mind waiting and he turned and asked what I had. Actually I brought every album I had of his which numbered almost 2...

MICHAEL BOLTONS MANAGER NEEDS A REALITY CHECK

At one time MICHAEL BOLTON was a charmer and many peoples choice of hearing a voice that was different from so many others. I met him many years ago at a record store where he was signing his new DC and when the opportunity arose to meet him at a venue that was quite easy, I felt what the heck. Now though I collect ,I try to pass on certain items to patients as a way of paying it forward. My buddy Hotdog as he goes by, waiting patiently outside the venue after the show was over. And we waited and waited and WAITED. Everyone was gone and the two of us traded stories as we sat near the SUV we were sure was taking him back to his hotel or whereever he was going next. As the minutes reached toward hours it crossed our mind to give up but the fact we had gone some distance to be there, waited as long as we had and knew he had not left yet. The Director of the venue was very nice letting us know that he was still there but " He will have alot of security ...

MEETING MUSIC ROYALITY

Image
Every year a organized HIPPIEFEST comes to town with several musicians usually from the 70's to entertain and bring flashbacks to many who lived the culture and others who only wished they did. 2015 was no different but the headliners were someone I have never met but knew all their music. Inducted to the ROCK N ROLL Hall of Fame in 1993 SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE one of the first Soul and Psychedelic bands were to play their hits that helped gain their fame. Now if You do not know, Sly of course is not with the band due to so many reasons most of all a drug addiction that shorten his magical talent. Three remaining original members still tour along with Slys daughter and due to illness one Cynthia Robinson did not make the trip. But two mainstays did, GREG ERRICO and JERRY MARTINI were to lead the band as they have though neither showing their age of 73. Meeting them was so delightful due mainly to their demeanor of being so friendly and sharing moments from Woodsto...

ROBBY KREIGER OF THE DOORS

Image
Growing up like so many of us Music played an important role in our sounds and likes and the DOORS were one of the most memorable to many of us. LIGHT MY FIRE, LOVE ME TWO TIMES, TOUCH ME are songs we can remember every word and will sing along every time the tunes are played on the radio or in concerts. Though all remember the haunting voice of JIM MORRISON , it was ROBBY KRIEGER who wrote many of them as he played the guitar from day one and still does to this day. I met Robby many years ago when the Hard Rock had a grand opening of the Hard Rock Vault in Orlando but it was fleeting as Late RAY MANZAREK did most of the talking when we hung around in a hotel lobby many years ago. Robby was in town playing some of the Doors greatest hits and a friend and I went to the see prior to the show in hopes of getting an album signed but more importantly a picture with with this rock legend. It was drizzling slightly and we were not 100 percent sure he had already arrived and was insi...

REMEMBERING FOOTBALL GREAT FRANK GIFFORD

I had sad moment when I heard of the passing of FRANK GIFFORD at the age of 84 but a sentimental one followed when I flashed back when My Father and I met him when I was 10 years old. At that early age I was getting into sports and living in New York everyone knew the great New York Giant Football star as one of the great receivers of the game . So all my memories are that of a bigger than life individual that had the posture and look of a Greek God. He was kind and even laughed at one of my jokes as we road in a taxi to the UCP Telethon that my Father was part of in the early sixties. Yes we have other memories of Number 16 when he was MVP of the League and was part of the 1956 Championship Team and fitting honor of being elected to Cantons HOF in 1977. Now many others in the next generation heard his voice as a mainstay on ABCs Monday Night Football from 1971 to 1998. Now as many do he made some mistakes and tried to mend all fences but I will always remember him as a kind man wh...
