SOME AUTOGRAPHS ARE NOT WHAT YOU EXCEPT WHEN YOU MEET THEM

Many times when you plan to meet someone that meant something special to you as we grow up or who may be in town with the chance to see if the press written about them is truly on target. Today was one of those days when 2 people of different walks of fame were in town on the same day. The first was Hall of Fame Tennis great ROD LAVER was meeting the public in a charity event with a 150 dollar meet and greet that included a question and answer, his new book and some treats to satisfied ones pallet. With some luck, I was invited in to the meet and greet with my special items I was hoping to get signed. After his talk most everyone got on line to have their book autographed and I was preparing to meet the legend one on one. I placed the items down and though he did sign , You could feel the resentment that he had to go through all this activity. It was a bit disappointing and not what I excepted.. He said to the organizer , " Look at this line , I am never going to get done." So being successful , I took off to meet the next personality Actress AMBER TAMBLYN who was discussing and sharing her book of poetry. She was noted for her roles in PURGE 2, JOAN OF ARCADIA and SISTERHOOD OF TRAVELING PANTS and this was a good moment to be up close with this talented young lady. She read some our her poems that truthfully sounded a little off color and reminded me of poets of the 60's. But then After her reading, everyone stood on line and in an orderly manner about 75 people took their turn in meeting this very pleasant talent. I placed a couple of photos down that she signed with no hesitation and I even discussed her ankle injury that occurred when walking on cobblestones at her home in New York and shared a joke and some information showing a gentle and funny side of her.. Though I didn't know too much about her prior to this event , I walked away with a pleasant experience that has made me look out for more of her work in books and the screen of a person who enjoys life to the fullest teaching all of us what not to forget.

We were watching the championship Basketball game when breaking news of the shooting of singer Christina Grimmie flashed across the bottom of the screen on one of the local TV stations here in Orlando. Though I was not very familiar with Christina though I did remember her powerful performance in the VOICE competion which she placed a respectful 3rd. What I was truly familiar was the venue where this tragedy happen called the PLAZA LIVE. I have seen many shows there and have met even more acts after with most signing autographs and taking photos with all their different fans. This senseless shooting happened in the lobby with a meet and greet after her show where fans get the opportunity to mingle up close and personal. Most Meet and Greet opportunities can cost an arm and leg and usually is really there for the singers or groups to add more money into their pocket . ACTORS JOHN ASHTON and LISA EILBACHER HAVE RESTORED MY FAITH IN HOLLYWOOD

The Central Florida Film Festival was showing BEVERLY HILLS COP and showing up for a Q&A were John Ashton and Lisa Eilbacher two of the main stars who played along side Eddie Murphy. They sat on stage and spoked candidly about the movie and acting in general. I did not know Slyvester Stallone was the first choice and only John saw the finished project and only once. John spoke passionately that true acting is found on the stage as movies are always in the hands of the editors and Director. Personally never looked at it that way but it makes perfect sense. John mentioned that with several takes the one you might think was your best may end of the cutting floor with the final choice by the Director. Lisa spoke of her famous curls that many talked about and how much fun they all had during filming. Lisa spoke of her role in An Officer and a Gentleman and giving it up to raise a family. NOT ALL THE WALKING DEAD JUST WALK BY

As millions are THE WALKING DEAD Series is followed like no other show that I can remember and is without a doubt my favorite. Now like many celebrities they only time one gets up and close are at Autograph Shows where people pay for an autograph with their favorite star. Now I can not say I have never paid for an autograph but will never pay for a photo with. About twenty " professional graphers " were prepared at a site that we all know in hopes of meeting many celebs who were attending a one day event that some of us donated money for the survivors of the ORLANDO PULSE NIGHT CLUB SHOOTING. Several started to file by including Director Greg Nictero who though in a rush was pleasant to all. Some harassed LAUEN COHAN who even barked at many "You guys are ridiculous " and signed a few with a Scribble that no one will know in a few years.
