John Lydon better known as JOHNNY ROTTEN as a stage name to the music world when he was part of the ground breaking group SEX PISTOLS. I had admire the group as one of the best if not the true first in Punk Rock. Johnny Rotten as the lead singer and base player SID VICIOUS. Lydon left the band in 1978 which was the demise of the Pistols. Now years have passed and Lydon has tried to put his face in front of the world with his new band PUBLIC IMAGE LTD and is touring the states with an arrival here in the Orlando area. Now there were 8 of us who patiently waited for hours to show our appreciation and ask for a few autographs that would have taken only a few minutes. As we waited back near his bus we met the other band members who were cordial and took the time to hang out with us for a few minutes. But there was no sign of Johnny Lydon. One of the staff of the venue had the responsibility to pick him and apparently he was over a hour away. I know that rarely happens but we were told by many that Lydon is some what hard to deal with and still believes that he is a legend. One of the band members said that he may sign depending on HIS MOOD. So with that in mind, we hung out,shared stories and stood around waiting for his arrival. He finally showed up with his small entourage and as he was driven through the gait never even looked at any of us. When the car stopped the his hind ness step out and we called" Please Johnny" and his reaction was as follows. He turned to us and held his hands over his head and clapped once and when inside. We were stunned. Here a few fans who were showing that we still remembered him and he reacted like he was GOD himself and showed no appreciation that we were there. We looked at one another and realized he is nobody and the crowd that was milling in were mostly 40 to 60 who had not forgotten him due mainly to the SEX PISTOLS which he does not like to acknowledge in response to pictures of him to sign when he was part of that group. Johnny Lydon should only be known as JOHNNY ROTTEN especially the way he treats fans. One should know that the SEX PISTOLS were inducted in the MUSIC HALL OF FAME in 2006 which they did NOT attend. Rotten called the museum a " PISS STAIN' . The Piss Stain is what is left of his career and it was mentioned that he is worth 215 million dollars. To all of us he is not worth a pluck nickel.
