GOLFS NEW AND RISING STARS
Every year the ARNOLD PALMER Invitational is held in Orlando and attracts some of the young and rising stars in Golf. Though I am not a golfer ( If You do not count WI GOLF) I believe it is a true sport of skill with luck involved and is truly a Professional Game. I watch it on TV the chances I get and have not missed this golf tournament in over 15 years and have been attending it since 1977.
This year they had some of the Young Phenoms that will be the future of Golf and will have new followings as the did with Arnies Army. Though there are so many I can reflect on the ones I had the chance to meet this week and observe with the fans that pay good money to watch this classy demonstration by many of these golfers.
JASON DAY who presently is ranked 5th in the world walked a line posing for pictures, sharing stories with the fans and posing for pictures. When I asked " Why are You not on the Ryder Cup" he smiled with his great accent ' They can't use me as they are all better than I" , Humble he is.
HARRIS ENGLISH who after many interview requests came over and letting the fans know how much he appreciated them.
BROOKS KOEPKA the hard hitting driver smiled , signed autographs after his round and when I told him I believe he was going to win a major in the next Year, he smiled and told me " I hope I do not let You Down"
BRAD SNEDECKER; one of the older Youngsters had his baby girl with him and smiled from ear to ear when I told him" You do not need a DNA test to show that She is Your Girl'.
One of My favorites as many know HIDEKI MATSUYAMA from Japan who came over when I called him and though I feel he is one of the greats, I tried to talk to him . He Did not understand one thing I was saying in English but did give it a try.. Part of me will now learn some Japanese so I can tell him what a true star is is and is becoming.
There are others MARTIN LAIRD, MATT EVERY, JASON KORAK, HENRIK STENSON , SPENSER LEVIN who also were great with the fans, Of Course RORY MCLLROY the number one player in the world tried to sign every day except the one day my Son tried.. I hope these Young man do not lose their passion and love for the game and especially remember their appreciation of their fans who stand in the heat for hours to watch in person the great skill of golf that they have been blessed with and share with us all.
