HELP !!!!!!! THEY ARE TRYING TO GET MY AUTOGRAPH
Many of us that get the thrill for the autograph of a special personality and this past week I have noticed a trend that is becoming more common and voiced by many. We have said this before that many of the celebs today are charging for autographs while others believe that everyone who asks feel that that are going to sell it on EBAY. This was quite evident this past week. The movie SHARKNADO was being filmed in Orlando with one of their stars being TARA REID . Two of us saw her walking through the hallway and we quickly rose to approach her for a picture and a few words. Imagine speeding up a movie because as we approached her picked up speed and looked like she was taking off to the races with Rocket Man following and myself taking up the rear. She was trying to get away but got stuck at the elevator and did pose and sign a couple of autographs though You knew her escaped failed at this junction.
That same night I was actively looking for JIM GAFFIN who was at a private event and has been noted to be a little abrupt and at times rude to those who ask for an autograph. I looked at the crowd of hundreds that were walking into the event and all of a sudden there he was among the crowd being escorted and not one person was recognizing him as he sliced his way through the sea of people. I called " Jim would You Mind signing a photo" and he turned grabbed the photo and said "What's Your Name" He signed it and said " Good Luck with this" and walked away. He had an attitude that he was a major star and we all were just the little people. I checked out of curiosity how much his autographs goes for and if lucky maybe 10 dollars. Whoa, I was not impressed with this encounter and his suspicion was quite evident.
Last night JACKSON BROWNE was performing at a Local Venue and even with him times are a changing.
A Couple of years ago I had a great encounter with him being invited by his previous manager to meet him where he asked questions about rehabbing his shoulder and signed several albums with verses I have never seen before on any items. I gave a couple away, stored another in a safe place and framed the other on our wall. My wife went before the show to speak with his present manager who at first was not very receptive to have him sign a couple of albums and photos. But after speaking with him about her skilled as an document examiner and shared with him his traits that are shown in his handwriting,he took them and asked her to come back at 9:30pm. And that is what we did . BUT she waited and waited and still waited for over an hour an half until the show was over. Though the manger did keep his word and got them signed by Browne, I could not help but feel for the apx 25 fans who had seen the show and were waiting to thank Browne with also hopes of an autograph or picture. He was escorted by 5 security guards to his bus and NOT ONE of those fans got to meet him.He never even made an effort to wave to them or make any attempts to say hello to them. I can tell you also he kept the photos we had given him as he believes they will end up on Ebay if he had signed them.
The trend is becoming alarming but if these celebrities just give it some thought that with out fan support they do not have a job and eventually it will come back to haunt them. Only Time will tell and may be here sooner than later.
