RUNNING ON FULL OR EMPTY

After work I headed down to a venue where singer JACKSON BROWNE was to perform his many hits that night .I decided to go by the stage door a few hours before the show in hopes of giving a few albums for him to sign either to him personally or one of his roadies. I did not have to wait too long when I saw a gentleman wearing the special access badge with Brownes name on it. I explained to him my intentions and told me he would be right back. A few minutes later a gentleman came out and asked if he could help me. I informed him that I was hoping to get a few items signed which were for my collection and a couple of my patients who also were big fans. He told me hang around for a minute and I will be back as he was his manager.Sure enough again he returned and told me "Jackson would like to meet You" I was stunned and caught off guard as he brought me to a waiting area.

About 5 minutes later here comes Jackson and reaches out to shake my hand. He was pleasant  and chatted with me concerning his shoulder that he injured and therapy he received. I offered some helpful hints and he signed all the albums with a special touch. He wrote different lyrics on each album with care and I must say a very nice penmanship. This was the first time any artist  I had met added original lyrics when signing an album. As he was about to leave he turned to me and said here are some centered seats as I would like You to be my guest at tonight's show. Great seats , great show which capped a great moment from his many hits including RUNNING ON EMPTY and DOCTOR MY EYES. Now there is more to this story.

About a year later he was playing about 2 hours from our area and the manager invited myself and another grapher to see the show. We asked if we could bring some other items to be signed and he told us bring them along. Before the show we were given backstage access and were told to leave the items in his dressing room for him to sign when he returns and wait up front when the manager will bring them to us. Because of my last success we both thought it was a done deal. Soon the manager came out holding our items and to this day the strangest comments that I remembered. And I quote" Here you are guys and I have good news" he then said, "  He did not sign because he has some other items to be signed" .We looked puzzled and WHAT WAS THE GOOD NEWS. He told us that tickets are waiting for you at will call and proceeded to say "Enjoy the show" We did pick up the tickets but did not go to the show as we kept telling each other did we miss something in that translation. I know You can never see what any outcome chasing an autograph may be and I just chalked it up to a new experience though we came up fully empty.
