GRACE SLICK: A TRUE ICON
When we were growing up and music became an escape for us all, the 60's produced some of the greatest. Music that still stands tall to this day. We all loved the BEATLES and the ROLLING STONES, but other groups like JEFFERSON AIRPLANE had some of the most loyal followers. The first time I heard and saw GRACE SLICK perform was in 1969 at an outdoor festival with CHUCK BERRY, CANNED HEAT, and headliner, JEFFERSON AIRPLANE. Grace hypnotized us all will her rendition of White Rabbit and Volunteer so that we fell in love with her. She had an onstage presence that told us she was one of the first lead singers of a supergroup who was a woman. The years went by and never in my wildest dreams did I believe there would be an opportunity to meet the legend. But, if you have patience, good things will usually happen. Over the past several years she took up painting and had quite a different and unique style. She painted the rock stars of the the earlier days...
